An introduction to Infolytica's Documentation Center

Welcome to Infolytica's Documentation Center (DC). This web structure is aimed at providing a comprehensive and detailed source of information covering all aspects of Infolytica's line of products, at both the basic and advanced levels. In this brief presentation, the DC's main features will be presented, as well as the ways to best benefit from them.

Interface

The DC's interface consists of three frames:

  • The top, title frame, shows the current general topic name.
  • The left frame contains
    • The Infolytica logo, which also acts as a home button (displays the default page in all frames)
    • A search engine
    • A table of contents for the current level
    • The Change Topic & View button
  • The right, or main frame, contains the document associated with the selected end-level subject.

Organization

Information can be accessed in two different ways:

  • One can use the hierarchical table of contents leading to the various sub-levels and ultimately to the desired end-level document.
  • Information can also be accessed using the Search Engine on top of the left frame.

Related documents are grouped in sub-sections with their associated Overview, which provides a summary of that sub-section.

The Related topics button, located at the bottom of each page in the main frame, allows to put on the left the table of contents associated with the page being displayed. This is useful when one is directed to a given page after having followed a link, and would like to see the associated table of contents displayed on the left.

Most of the main sections contain specialized or modular step-by-step tutorials, which provide the user with hands-on experience in relation to specific tasks.

Topics

The DC offers information related to the following topics:

  • MagNet
  • ElecNet
  • ThermNet
  • OptiNet
  • Applications

The topics available for a given user are based on the products for which he or she is maintained. One can switch from one available topic to another by pressing the Change Topic & View button located at the bottom of the left frame, displaying the page shown below:

The Change Topic & View page.

View modes

The DC can be viewed in two different modes:

  • The default viewing mode is the Reference mode. It provides access to all the end-level documents. This mode is chosen if one searches for detailed information on a given topic
  • In an on-site or remote training course context, the DC can be viewed in the Training Course mode. This is done in Change Topic & View page (see above), accessed from the corresponding button at the bottom of the left frame.

In the Training Course mode,

  • The top-level table of contents is converted to a training course agenda.
  • Only the Overviews and Tutorials are accessible.

The Change Topic & View button is used again to get back to the Reference mode.

Documents

Apart from full text documents, overviews and tutorials, other types of documents are available from the DC:

  • Models
  • Scripts
  • Spreadsheets
  • Demos
  • Calculator UDVs
