"We have used MagNet for over 10 years. It has paid for itself many times over by helping us evaluate novel designs, win contracts, reduce technical risks, control costs and meet specifications. It's combination of accurate, robust solvers, easy user interface, integrated parametric design, scripts and ActiveX automation make virtual prototyping a routine mode of operation. We use it for electromagnetic analysis and design; multi-physics analysis; engineering design; sensitivity analysis to aid engineering, fabrication, assembly, production and testing.
We have experimentally confirmed that MagNet has a precision of better than 10 ppm and an accuracy of 0.1%, limited only by our databases. During device tuning MagNet has been very helpful in sensitivity analysis and modeling at the 0.01% level.
Infolytica products are easy to use so the majority of our electromagnetic analysis effort is in design optimization not the straightforward task of building models. We are presently using OptiNet to make specialized optimization functions that meet our particular requirements. This should further reduce the overall cost of ownership.
A typical analysis and design cycle is to optimize an electromagnetic design using MagNet scripting and parametric analysis; export the solid model to engineering; perform engineering analysis and design, import the engineering solid model back into MagNet and then affirm the engineering design meets specifications by re-analyzing with MagNet. This process greatly reduces errors and improves performance.
Our products tend to have large, complex, dangerous, dynamic forces acting on the components during assembly and routine operation. Our mechanical engineers make use of the parametric electromagnetic force/torque analysis to aid in the design of the overall mechanical structure as well as specialized assembly tooling.
The Infolytica technical support staff are professionals who are very helpful in providing timely and useful assistance.
