The material modeler, used in all Infolytica products, uses a standard and extendable structure for describing materials for an analysis system. It is now possible to include the properties necessary for electromagnetic and thermal modeling.
To be able to analyze electromagnetic and thermal problems correctly, it is necessary to represent all material properties as a function of temperature, or in the case of magnetic loss data, temperature and frequency. To provide this extension to material modeling, a new material database is implemented. This new material database is more portable across different systems -- users can import existing material model databases and update the materials in existing designs.
The user can easily create and edit material properties using a Wizard. The Material Modeler simplifies material creation by providing as much user-directed support as possible.
All Infolytica products include three material libraries, which can hold an unlimited number of materials.
- The Model Materials library lists all materials assigned to the device. If a material is used in a device, a copy of it is kept in the device to make the description of that device self-contained. As a result, it is possible to send a device file to a colleague without having to send the entire material database.
- The Low Frequency Material library, considered the System library, includes 65 pre-defined materials.
- The User Defined Materials library contains material that you have created or modified.
