Available manual mesh control tools

Mesh Layers (3D only)
Specify the following mesh layer region parameters:
  • height of each layer (uniform, logarithmic or user-defined)
  • thickness of the layers
  • total thickness of the mesh layer region
  • number of layers
Mesh edge subdivisions

Maximum element size
  • Can be assigned at the global (or model) level
  • Local maximum element sizes can be applied to component volume, surface, edge, or vertex
Polynomial order
  • Can be specified individually for each component of the problem, through the PolynomialOrder parameter of the component's Parameters pages
  • Can be set for the model as a whole, from the Solver Options dialog box
  • Can be set to 1, 2, or 3
Curvature refinement ratio
  • Can be set globally
  • Can be set locally on component volumes, surfaces, and edges
Curvature refinement minimum element size
  • Can be set globally
  • Can be set locally on component volumes, surfaces, and edges
