Multiple motion capabilities now available in MagNet 6.16

Montréal, Québec, Canada – August 3, 2004 -- Since its introduction back in early 2004, MagNet’s Transient 3D with Motion solver has wasted little time in expanding an already impressive list of attributes. Shortly after the MagNet release that launched this new solver, Infolytica made a significant improvement by incorporating Multiple Degrees of Freedom as one of its capabilities, the first of its kind. Now, driven by strong market demand, Infolytica’s developers have pushed these capabilities a little further and succeeded in producing another first in motion analysis, which is the ability to have multiple motion components within one device. Both the 2-dimentional and 3-dimensional Transient with Motion solvers in MagNet 6.16 now support several components moving independently in the same electromagnetic field simulation. Each moving component can be set to travel either at a fixed velocity or subject to load conditions specified by the user and the electromagnetic forces the component experiences. These motion components can also have multiple degrees of freedom and therefore experience arbitrary motion.

Applications for this new development include electromechanical devices with two or more moving components, e.g. magnetic gears. To view an example of this advanced capability, please click here.
