MotorSolve IM with New Results Module Announced

The new version of MotorSolve IM, due out next month, will include what induction motor and generator designers have been anxiously waiting for. Already used by many for its modern template-based interface to try different prototypes rapidly; the new MotorSolve IM will include a fully automated FEA-based results module.

This new feature will allow an induction machine designer to solve for critical performance parameters accurately without having to use general purpose FEA software.

Here are a few screen captures of the type of results MotorSolve IM will offer (click to enlarge):

IEMDC 2009 Tutorial: Motor Design and Optimization using Finite Elements

Date: May 3, 2009
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm EDT
Cost: Free

This tutorial, to be held during IEMDC 2009, will focus on the practical ways of using FEA-based software for the design and optimization of electric machines:

  • Ensuring Efficiency: core losses, demagnetization and more
  • Understanding how to use FEA to improve your machine design
  • Co-simulation of drive and machine using Simulink©
  • Response Surface Modeling (RSM) with VHDL-AMS
  • Optimization: searching the design space for better performance

With the use of FEA, a machine designer can accurately solve for critical performance factors such as:

  • Back EMF
  • Torque
  • Eddy-current losses, Iron Losses
  • Efficiency
  • Inductances and Saturation
  • Permanent Magnets & Demagnetization
  • Mechanical torques, forces, motion

Register for the next MagNet training course

Date: May 12-14, 2009
Location: Montreal, QC
Register today - there is limited space available in our next MagNet training course, which will be held May 12-14, 2009 at our North American HQ in Montreal, QC.

This three day course covers the basic skills required for new users to properly construct, simulate and analyze a device or component model with MagNet. The goal is to impart a greater understanding of how to use the software efficiently and effectively.

Participants are introduced to the fundamental features of MagNet, optimum problem solving approaches and techniques on how to avoid common pitfalls.
