International Energy Agency ExCo Meeting, September 18-20, 2006, Montreal, Quebec
State of the art in using finite elements for rotating machinery
Dr. Gilles Fillion, Infolytica Corporation
This talk will focus on the latest additions to MagNet that deal with solving multi-physics
problems and the optimization of rotating machinery. There will be a brief description of
the various coupling methods used in magnetic FE, such as electromagnetic coupled to
motional mechanics (transient with motion), coupling of circuits with electromagnetics
(circuits in MagNet, co-simulation via PSIM and Simulink), and electromagnetic - thermal
coupling. Other topics will include RSM modeling and optimization of motors using OptiNet.
SMMA Fall Technical Conference, November 1-3, 2006, St. Louis, Missouri
The Impact of Software and Hardware Advances on Motor Design Tools
Behzad Forghani, Vice President, Infolytica Corporation
The objective of this paper will be to introduce a new motor design tool that takes
advantage of recent advances in software design and hardware performance. This new
application integrates its built-in knowledge of motors with the processing power of an FEA engine
