Infolytica Announcement #33
November 15, 2005Product News
Infolytica releases the first 64-bit enabled applications for Windows® x64 Editions designed specifically for low frequency electromagnetics
With the new releases of MagNet 6.21, ElecNet 6.13, and ThermNet 1.11, Infolytica is pleased to announce that these software applications are now available in two versions (64-bit and 32-bit). As well, a new version of OptiNet 2.2 is released for users that plan to utilize our design optimization tool in tandem with any one of the newer versions of MagNet, ElecNet, or ThermNet, whether it be 64-bit or 32-bit.
When you think of 64-bit applications, your first thought is usually of the sizeable memory allocations that are available for large 3D problems. Now, solution sizes that far exceed the 2 GB limitations of 32-bit applications are not only possible, but clearly achievable -- we could throw out numbers such as 6 GB, 10 GB, 16 GB, etc. but we'll leave it up to users to realize the almost limitless potential that our 64-bit versions can reach. And, that's not all, folks! Have we mentioned that the newly released 32-bit versions of MagNet, ElecNet, and ThermNet are between 1.2 and 2 times faster than their previous versions? Well, whilst the increased memory is definitely the key ingredient of the new 64-bit applications, the speedups have been significant in their own right, with all of our 64-bit solvers being up to 30% faster than the 32-bit versions, and that's after taking into account the increases already listed above.

Clawpole in Motion
In this Gallery page example, MagNet's Transient 3D with Motion solver simulates a clawpole alternator, spinning at 3000 rpm and coupled to a battery and load through a three-phase diode bridge, in an automobile's electrical system environment.
