Infolytica Announcement #6

NEWS & EVENTS
UGM 2001 recap
Once again, our User Group Meeting (UGM) was very successful. This was due in large part to our participants who helped create a greater appreciation of the advancements Infolytica has made in developing electromagnetic analysis software that is second to none.
In its present format, the UGM serves as the ideal forum for users to demonstrate how they utilize our products and to learn from other users. A particular advantage to UGM participants is our undivided attention to proposals on how to make Infolytica's applications more suited to their needs. After all, as the name implies, the UGM is designed to be beneficial to the user. In many cases, we can provide solutions to their specific problems, directly, using our software as it is presently configured. However, problems that have no immediate solutions are normally submitted to our Development committee for further study. This committee decides whether or not to include the enhancements that address those particular problems, in any future releases. This is not to say that your suggestions are only given weight when proposed at the UGM, but that under the context of these meetings, with varied input from the different users, they are given a more thorough examination. In all cases, your suggestions are given careful consideration.
A number of presentations, touching on subjects such as User Interfaces, Post-processing, Mesh Generation, and Automatic Reports were given by our own subject-matter experts. If you were unable to attend the UGM but would still like to view some of these presentations, please visit the section specifically created for UGM 2001, in our Online Customer Support Center (OCSC).
During the Scripting Workshop, held on the second day of the UGM, some of our users made presentations that were well received by all participants. The presentations highlighted the advantages of scripting, its ease-of-use, and how you could use it to save time. Those in attendance, who were unfamiliar with the power of our scripting engine, were eager to learn more about this feature. So much so that, during discussions that followed the presentations, the topic of a one-day training course on scripting came up. Both novice and intermediate users of VB Scripting found that the idea of a hands-on course would lead to a better understanding of the many facets of scripting, when used with MagNet, ElecNet, ThermNet, or FullWave. To this end, a training course, dealing exclusively with scripting, is in the planning stages. While we are still in the midst of developing a course outline, it would be helpful to find out what you, the user, would like to see covered, as far as subject matter is concerned. Drop us a line (support@infolytica.com) and have a say in how this new course is designed.
Training courses
The next MagNet 6 Training Course is scheduled for November 13 - 15, 2001. This course offers a fast way to become productive with one of the most powerful 2D and 3D software tools available for the Electromagnetics' designer.
PRODUCTS
If the Entertainment industry had a tool like this, there would be a lot more hits and a lot less misses. Unfortunately, they don't, but those in the industry of solving thermal problems involving conduction, convection, and radiation, do. Find out how you can determine what's hot and what's not by using Infolytica's ThermNet software. Download a brochure, now.
Infolytica is pleased to introduce its two latest products, RIM Design Assistant and Trajectory Evaluator Assistant, which are packaged as easy-to-use wizards. RIM Design Assistant, used in conjunction with MagNet and Microsoft Excel, helps users analyze a rotary induction motor. Trajectory Evaluator Assistant is used to determine particle trajectory in a MagNet or ElecNet model. Please contact a sales representative for more information.
Our colleagues from Infolytica Limited in the U.K. have successfully created a link between MagNet and SPEED, the electric motor/drive design analysis software. Check our web site as more information should be available in the near future. An article on Scripting with Magnet has been added to the Product section.
SUPPORT
Two new sections have been added to our Support area. The Learning Center
If you believe that a little knowledge is good but that a little more knowledge is even better, then you are sure to appreciate this new section of our web site. The first items to find their way to the Learning Center are documents for a Course in Electromechanics given by Dr. J.D. Edwards at the School of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Sussex in the UK. The documents are available packaged as Year 1 and Year 2.
The Evaluation Center
We've just made it easier for prospective users to evaluate our software. No more waiting for that courier package to arrive. Once you've received your unique Login name & Password to our Evaluation Center, you can begin downloading evaluation packages directly from our web site. NOTE Access to our Support site requires a Username and password. If you are a currently maintained customer, and do not already have an account, please contact our customer support department at support@infolytica.com.
This announcement is offered as a way to inform the Electromagnetic community of the many efforts Infolytica is making to provide state-of-the-art advances in this field. If you wish to be removed from our mailing list, simply send an e-mail to listserv@listserv.infolytica.com with the words "SIGNOFF INFO-ANNOUNCE" in the message field.
