A Step Motor Design with Improved Acceleration and Step Response

This paper presents and improved Hybrid Step Motor Design with increased torque and reduced rotor inertia. The need for this type of motion control prime mover is identified, along with the software and hardware design tools that assisted in effectively modeling and developing the product. The motor performance is evaluated with up to date test methods, and compared to an industry standard hybrid motor of the same frame size in two different application requirements.
