Calculation of the Characteristics of a Claw Pole GeneratorThe characteristics of a claw pole generator are calculated using a two dimensional analytical approach and a two dimensional finite element calculation. The no-load curve, the torque versus load angle and the main field and leakage inductances are obtained. The results of both methods are compared. It is shown that the finite element approach possesses definite advantages with respect to the analytical calculation. Furthermore the theoretical results are compared with the experimental values. From this comparison we can draw some conclusions with regard to the validity of the two dimensional approximation. |
