Application of a Passive dI/dt LimiterThis paper shows how a composite magnetic device can be used as an overcurrent protection device or a rate of current change, dI/dT, limiter in voltage source fed circuits. The dI/dT limiter discussed in this paper will be more fully introduced in a subsequent paper by the same authors. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the possible uses of such a device and the relevance of certain geometrical parameters to the devices operation. To date experimental results have not yet been obtained, however, the analytical results have been supported by finite elements simulations. |
