Loudspeaker analysis -- Thermal effects

MagNet is capable of handling material properties that are functions of temperature, thereby, making it possible to analyze a model (e.g., loudspeaker) for different body temperatures. Given that the magnetic properties of rare earth magnets are sensitive to temperature changes, we can parameterize the temperature of the magnet in a loudspeaker and obtain, for example, the force on a voice coil as a function of the magnet temperature. This is illustrated in the example to the left.

As you can see in the material property curve shown above, the properties change with the operating temperature. These curves were entered into a MagNet material database and used with the model shown here. The difference between this model and the models in the other loudspeaker analysis gallery pages, is the addition of a voice coil in the air gap (the copper colored rectangle).
